The Mental Briefs

It is important to practice using positive thoughts in everything we do.  Athletics, training, and just good old everyday living is influenced by how we think.  If you have good positive vision, you let your body work in harmony with your mind, and you understand how to handle all the circumstances that come your way then you are moving with a powerful mind.  The briefs provided will help clear the path to this powerful function that is in everyone.

The Vision of Risk
(Click Here for the Full Brief)
They say you are what you eat.  I say you are what you think.  To even think that you can do something special, become someone special, or create something special is in its own right a risk one takes everyday.  We choose to be negative or positive, we choose to explore or hide behind a rock, and we choose to believe in ourselves or believe the damning thoughts of others.  The Vision of Risk is the dynamic attempt to realize the positive in mind, spirit, and deed.  It motivates individuals to greatness, teams to victories, communities to live with productivity, and worlds to create peaceful havens within chaotic times.
Transition
Transition is the ability to bridge power with performance.  Strength without function is potential.  Potential is resources not used.  Simply stated from an old coach, “Potential is abundant on the bench and in the stands.  Everyone has potential.  Just give me a group of guys who want to perform and will perform and I will present you with a group of men who will solve problems and create victories…..over and over again.”

Build the Muscle in your Head
Athletes work so hard to develop their physique and athletic talents.  Why not develop the efficiency of the mind, which controls all the actions of the body. They say you are what you eat.  We say you are what you think.  Think positive and be positive. Think great things and do great things.  Do not be afraid to be a visionary to your self and to others.
Read, Read, Read

The most simple of all workouts for the brain is to read.  Reading stimulates the imagination and the  ability to concentrate for long periods of time.  It develops patience and communications skills.  It also helps you go to sleep!!!

Mental Toughness

The mark of a champion is not found in the awards he collects or the final score at the end of the game.  These are nothing more than the spoils of something much greater.  The mark of a champion is found in the ability of that individual to bounce back from defeat.  The individual who takes a loss, a mistake, a wayward strategy and corrects, redirects, and returns to attack is the individual who is tough when the going gets rough.

Commitment in an Uncommitted World

A powerful athlete understands the meaning of commitment.  He understands that to reach an objective takes effort, planning, vision, and the will to fight through the good and bad times along the journey.   Instant gratification does not sustain the long-term positive character of an individual but long term committed perseverance to a mission, an objective, a personal goal creates mental toughness that sustains the power and focus of the athlete as he meets the challenges within his profession.

Freezing, Choking

Everyone chokes, freezes, forgets to act.  The ability to recognize this and adjust is the defining characteristic of the leaders on the field and the individuals who return to the field each day to play.

Mental Recovery

Twenty seconds is all it takes to make mental adjustments.  Mastery of recovery determines how the athlete will maintain his edge during the course of a game, a series, the season, and all points in between.  No one is perfect and every situation can be positive or negative.  The ability to forget the past, to forget about the achievement or the failure is the secret to success for those who compete.
